03-23-11 l Barbershop Recording Collective opens its doors
The Barbershop Recording Collective is an audio education program conceived, written and taught by Gordon Davies. As the name implies, the BRC course is held entirely in the studios and control rooms of The Barbershop Studios, in Hopatcong NY. The studio itself is one of the finest in the Northeast, and features a 72 input SSL 9000k console, an amazing live room, and an extraordinary collection of mics and outboard gear. The course is taught twice a week for 4 hours, over a period of 2 months. The first class was a huge success. In addition to learning the ins and outs of audio engineering, the students were given the opportunity to record, edit and mix a great song by recording artists Alchemy & The Queen. The class was completely full, with an enthusiastic group of students who ranged in age from 16 to 45. The feedback about the classes has been nothing short of incredible, so if you know anyone who is interested in audio, this might be just the ticket!
